HSE "Has Not Abandoned" Plans For New Primary Care Centre In Offaly

A proposed site for the facility was recently rejected by the Health Service.

The HSE has not abandoned plans for primary care centre in Birr.

Junior Health Minister Mary Butler has been making the assurances in response to independent Laois-Offaly TD Carol Nolan in the Dáil.

Minister Butler says the rectory site, proposed for the new state of the art facility by Offaly County Council, was recently rejected by the HSE because local GPs want to pursue the original rugby club site instead.

She says the pace of progress is understandably frustrating, but discussions on how best to proceed are continuing:
