Over 3.1kg of herbal cannabis was seized.
Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €169,000 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
- Over 3.1kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €44,200,
- 107 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of over €42,200,
- 14,950 tablets of Alprazolam, with an estimated value of €29,900,
- Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €16,800,
- Over 1100 litres of alcohol, with an estimated value of over €14,300, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €7,800,
- Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €12,900, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €10,200, and
- 1.4kg of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of over €8,400.
The herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dogs Sam and Ciara. The parcels originated from the USA, the UK, Canada, Spain, Thailand and Portugal and were destined for various addresses nationwide.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Seventy eight weapons accessories were also seized.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
