HSE To Review Over-Prescription Of Mental Health Medication To Children

A midlands psychotherapist says it's a very concerning development.

The HSE is to review the cases of more than 1,500 child and adolescent mental health patients over concerns some were over-prescribed medication.

It relates to young people who attended the service in South Kerry between 2016 and 2020.

The HSE insists most of the children whose cases are being reviewed will have received appropriate care and interventions.

But it's apologised for the worry and concern the revelations will cause.
