The Hospice Committee is hitting out at plans presented by HSE.
The South Westmeath Hospice says the HSE wants to replace it with what equates to a mobile home.
The HSE had proposed incorporating four palliative care beds into the new Community Nursing Unit in Clonbrusk in Athlone.
But at a meeting with the Hospice Committee earlier this week, secretary Joe Whelan says the plans presented by the HSE were far from the original proposal.
He says these token gestures fall very short of what's required to ensure a continuation of the current service:
