Individual Involved In Referee Incident Gets 96 Week Ban

Referees went on strike the weekend following the incident.

The Roscommon Competitions Control Committee has recommended a 96-week ban for the individual involved in an incident which required a referee to be hospitalised.

The alleged assault happened during an under-17 meeting of St Aidan's and St Dominic's in Ballyforan.

Gardaí launched an investigation into the incident last month with footage appearing to show an official lying on the ground receiving attention.

Roscommon GAA also launched an investigation, while referees in the county announced a strike, saying they would withdraw services for games at all levels on the following weekend.
