Ireland's Lack Of Military Aircraft Branded As "Embarrassing"

Some Defence Forces personnel are stranded in Lebanon.

There are calls for Ireland to urgently invest in its own military aircraft.

About 300 members of the Defence Forces are currently stranded in Lebanon, as the government has suspended all rotations and military leave until June 30th.

Independent Kildare South TD Cathal Berry says some of the personnel haven't seen their famiiles in six months and need to be brought home immediately.

He says there's political paralysis on the issue, and the fact the Defence Forces doesn't have its own aircraft is embarrassing:
