New data reveals spending on clothing in the midlands soared during Black Friday 2019.

Irish consumers spent €4,500 every minute on clothing on Black Friday last year, according to new data.

Spending is set to soar this week, with the Christmas shopping season kicking off.

AIB data reveals clothing ranks first for shoppers on Black Friday - spending was up 403 per cent compared to a normal day in Westmeath - up 389 per cent in Offaly - and 388 per cent in Laois.

The busiest time for online shopping on Black Friday is between 10am and 11am for women, and 9pm to 10pm for men.

The data was compiled from over one million card transactions carried out by Irish consumers.
