Irish Rail Introduces New 'Quiet Carriage'

The initiative has been introduced on the Dublin-Cork service, which stops in Portlaoise.

If people being loud on a train really annoys you, there's now an option to book a "quiet carriage". 

Iarnród Éireann is re-introducing the choice for passengers on the Dublin-Cork rail service, which stops in Portlaoise, from today. 

The G-carriage will have purple branding and is aimed at customers with sensory issues or those who may wish to work in a quiet space.

Irish Rail's head of corporate communications Barry Kenny says it makes sense to try it out on the Cork line first:
