A vigil takes places in Limerick today for the Mountrath student who was killed in 2023.
The family of a Laois man killed in a hit and run will join students at his former university today.
They're calling for a tougher prison sentence for the man who's reckless driving led to his death.
Mountrath's Joe Drennan - a journalism student at UL - died in October 2023.
Last week 21 year old Kieran Fogarty was sentenced to 6 and a half years behind bars for dangerous driving, the sentence runs con-currently with a previous conviction for discharging a firearm.
Joe's family, friends and colleagues are appealing to the Director of Public Prosecutions to review the sentence.
