Jump Of €10,000 Paid In Learner And Novice Driver Fines In The Midlands Last Year

€37,850 was paid for garda penalties last year.

There was a 40% increase in the amount of fines paid for learner or novice driver offences in the midlands last year.

In 2019, 453 people settled garda penalties after breaking the law, such as driving without a qualified driver - amounting to €37,850 in fines.

That compares to 330 offences and €27,150 in fines in 2018, according to freedom of information files.
