Laois currently has one of the lowest growth rates in the country for average rent costs in existing tenancies.
The latest data from the RTB and ESRI's Rent Index report shows costs have only grown by 3.9% - which is below the figure of 4.7% nationally.
However rents in Laois are still the highest in the Midlands at €969.
While Offaly and Westmeath have recorded bigger increases - with Offaly at 6.8% and Westmeath at 6.2%.
The rent figure is higher in Westmeath at €950 - and it costs €920 on average to rent in Offaly.
