The authority is being asked why essential upgrades to the housing stock.
Returning €600,000 allotted for council house maintenance and refurbishment is one of the worst things ever to happen within Laois County Council.
That's according to Fine Gael rep Willie Aird, who is calling on the authority's chief executive to explain why the money is not being utilised to provide essential upgrades to the housing stock.
He says councillors weren't informed of the development at either this month's council meeting or a special housing meeting held two weeks ago.
The Portlaoise rep says the public deserves transparency on the issue:
