Laois Fire Crew To Walk 1,000km For Pieta House

They've set a target of raising €3,000.

A Laois fire crew is aiming to walk 1,000km in June to raise money for Pieta House. 

The charity was forced to cancel their annual darkness into light walk due to the limitations around mass gatherings.  

The eight strong Rathdowney crew are usually on first aid duty at their local event, but now wish to give back in a different manner. 

They've set an initial target of €3,000. 

Station Officer Justin Kavanagh says the service is even more vital than normal,  given the social isolation the country just experienced:
