The Chair of the Health and Wellbeing Committee says the events of the pandemic have exasperated the abuse of substances.
Laois GAA is hosting an information evening on substance abuse, gambling and mental health today.
The HSE, Pieta House and An Garda Síochána will give presentations in the Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise this evening.
Chairperson of the Health and Wellbeing Committee, Leona Conroy, says the event had been scheduled to take place in 2020, but was delayed due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
