Laois Gardaí Uncover €6,000 Worth Of Drugs After Stopping Driver Speeding

The driver was arrested after failing a roadside drug test.

Gardaí have uncovered €6,000 worth of drugs after stopping a driver speeding in Laois.

The woman was detected travelling at 148kph on the M7 on Tuesday evening.

She was arrested after failing a roadside drug test.

The car was searched and a small quantity of cannabis herb was recovered, along with €4,500 in suspected cocaine. 

A follow-up search, carried out at an address in Tipperary, resulted in the seizure of another €1,500 worth of drugs. 

The driver has been charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court.
