Laois Offaly Gardai Launch Speed Reduction Campaign

The campaign to urge motorists to slow down will continue through the summer.

Gardaí in Laois and Offaly are launching a speed reduction campaign today that will continue throughout the summer.

The initiative will see an increased Garda presence on roads approaching towns and villages across the region.

The campaign aims to encourage drivers to slow down and travel at appropriate speeds when entering urban areas.

It comes as 37 people have died on Irish roads so far this year, including 12 pedestrians.

Motorists caught exceeding the speed limit face a €160 fine and three penalty points on their licence.
