The first-of-its-kind initiative will be rolled out in seven counties, under a new five million euro pilot programme.
The Department of Education says these counties were chosen as they were identified as areas which had the highest number of counsellors available.
The move comes in a bid to assist young students suffering from mental health challenges, which stemmed from the Covid-19 pandemic.
