The Portarlington mum has spent seven weeks in hospital.
A Laois mum, in need of a heart transplant, is urging people to become an organ donor.
Portarlington's Denise Geoghegan went to hospital last month, after having difficulty breathing and swelling in her legs and feet, and was diagnosed with a heart function of 10%.
She was very tired over Christmas, but thought that was down to her busy schedule as a mother of three.
Ms. Geoghegan is now in the Mater Hospital in Dublin, where she'll wait until a compatible heart can be found.
