Legal Aid Costs For International Protection Cases Jumps 429% Since 2020

Expenditure for legal aid in international protection cases is up by 429% since 2020.  

The Justice Department figures show over €20.7 million has been spent by the government for legal aid in international protection cases over the past five years. 

These figures cover only non-pay costs and exclude staff salaries and other general operating costs of the Legal Aid Board’s law centres.
