Micheál Carrigy has met with Biogen which manufactures the drug for Friedreich's Ataxia.
There's a call on the provider of a drug for Friedreich's ataxia to consider a compassionate access scheme.
Negotiations are currently underway between the HSE and Biogen regarding the cost of supplying Skyclarys.
However, the HSE has upheld a recommendation not to reimburse the drug, as it would cost around 280 thousand euro per patient per year.
