Proposed new planning exemptions will help farmers use less chemical fertilisers and save more money.
That's according to Longford Westmeath TD and Oireachtas Housing Committee Chair Micheal Carrigy.
The proposals will allow for an increase in the provision for animal housing and an exemption for stand-alone Slurry Storage.
Deputy Carrigy believes the better use of slurry means farmers can reduce their reliance on chemical fertilisers, resulting in cost savings and more sustainable practices.
