Major Redevelopment Of Athlone Garda Station Complete

It's hoped an official opening can take place soon.

Major refurbishments to Athlone Garda Station are now complete.

Chief Superintendent Fergus Healy confirmed the news at a meeting of the Westmeath Joint Policing Committee today.

It's hoped the station can be officially opened by the Minister for Justice before March, but that's subject to confirmation.

Contracts for the project - which has cost over €8 million - were signed back in April 2018.

It involved the restoration and refurbishment of the station on Barrack Street, as well as the former social protection building next door, with link building also constructed between the two.
