Man Arrested After Violent Scenes At Match In Kilkenny

The incident took place during a hurling match in Nowlan Park.

A man has been arrested for his part in a public order incident in Kilkenny over the weekend.

It comes after violent scenes in Nowlan Park after a meeting of Offaly's Kilcormac Killoughey and Kilkenny champions Ballyhale Shamrocks.

Video footage appears to show a large number of players involved with some fans running onto the pitch to confront the players.

Gardaí are confirming a man in his 40s has been arrested.

He's since been charged and is due before the courts at a later date.
