A man has been charged with the aggravated burglary of a house in Laois.
The incident occurred at 8:30 on Tuesday evening in the Mountrath area.
The 21 year old male forced entry to the premises armed with a hammer and threatened those inside.
He was arrested during the break-in and is charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court on Thursday morning.
