A man has been arrested following an armed robbery in Laois.
The incident occurred last Friday, when a man entered a shop in Portlaoise, armed with a hammer.
He threatened staff before leaving with a sum of cash and tobacco.
A search was carried out yesterday, during which evidence relating to the investigation was seized, and the man in his late 20s was arrested.
He was charged today for a number of offences relating to the robbery and will appear before Cloverhill District Court, via videolink, next week.
