A section of the N80 in Laois remains closed today.
Gardaí in Laois are appealing for witnesses after a third fatal incident on midlands roads over the weekend.
A man a pedestrian in his 70s, has died after a collision with a car near Stradbally last night.
The incident, which occurred around 10.45pm, happened on the N80 at Crannagh between Stradbally and Carlow.
The motorist, a woman in her 30s, is uninjured.
The road is currently closed pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators this morning, Monday 24th February 2025.
Garda are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N80 at Crannagh, Stradbally, Co. Laois between 10.30pm and 11pm yesterday, 23rd February 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
