Gardaí believe the death was an accident.
A man in his 70s has died in a workplace incident in the midlands.
What is believed to be an accident, at a concrete manufacturing plant in the Bealnamulla area of Athlone, occurred in the early afternoon (Wednesday).
Gardaí from Roscommon station, and emergency services, were alerted at approximately 2pm.
The man in his 70s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí say the man's body will be removed from the scene, and a post-mortem examination will take place, in due course.
The Health and Safety Authority attended the scene with Gardaí.
In a statement to Midlands 103 they say they "they have launched an investigation into the circumstances" of the incident, but have no further information at this time.
A file will be prepared for the Coroner's Court.
