The report also shows that Irish radio enjoys far higher daily audience levels compared to global social platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
Midlands 103 retains its market leading position in the latest Joint National Listenership Research.
Our audience in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath is now 50% greater than the second highest station, RTE Radio One.
Over 180,000 people in the midlands listen to radio every day and Midlands Today remains the most popular programme.

Managing Director Will Faulkner is grateful to staff and listeners for another solid result:
"Nobody can deny the power of radio. Ipsos research shows only 34% of adults use Facebook, fewer still use Instagram and only 12% watch Tik Tok daily - yet 79% tune into a radio every single day! We can never take that privilege for granted and will always strive to be better."

Listening to live radio via FM/AM is still by far, the most popular form of listening accounting for 90% of all adult listening, 4% of listening is through a smart speaker and 3% through a mobile device.
Ciaran Cunningham CEO Radiocentre Ireland said:
“I am delighted that the JNLR listenership data released today shows clearly the huge power and popularity of radio among the Irish population. Radio delivers unrivalled audience numbers on a daily and weekly basis. Radio listening is booming and today’s figures are a great reminder that Irish radio is a central part of people’s lives. As a commercial medium, radio gives brands a way to speak to millions of people every day”.
