The winners were announced at a gala event in Kilkenny on Friday.

Midlands 103 has won gold and silver at the IMRO Radio Awards.

The station delivered Ireland's 'Radio Moment of the Year' for 2025 with its entry 'My Son Sits in Two Different Coffins' on Midlands Today with Will Faulkner.

The story tells of Chelsea Brereton's still-born son who's organs were retained against her express instructions:

Midlands 103 were awarded gold again for the 'News Story of the Year' - Justice for Joe.

This entry recounted the story of a campaign to reform the laws around concurrent sentencing.

Laois student Joe Drennan was struck down in a hit and run by 21 year old Kieran Fogarty of Hyde Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick who received a six and a half year sentence for the crime.

However that term will run concurrently with an eight year sentence for a separate offence.

From the moment the judgement was passed, Joe Drennan's family and friends moved to highlight what they believe was a fundamental injustice:

There was more success for the station with Courtney Callaghan's first year in broadcast radio being recognised in The Gay Byrne Award – Newcomer of the Year Award - claiming silver.

While Midlands Today with Will Faulkner was shortlisted for Best Current Affairs Programme, David Hollywood received a nomination for Sports Broadcaster of the Year, Anne Marie Kelly was nominated for Specialist Music Broadcaster of the Year, and The Loose Cannons Podcast was on the shortlist for Radio Station Podcast of the Year.
