Sinn Féin five new seats in the region in the local elections.
Sinn Féin's done a lot of 'ground work' in the midlands, according to one of its newly-elected councillors.
The party gained five new seats in the region in the 2024 Local Elections, rising from two to seven.
The majority of those came in Offaly, where Sinn Féin claimed three seats, while it retained its two seats in Laois, and secured two in Westmeath.
