Midlands Farmers Warn Of Potential Food Rise Costs Due To Strait Closure

Chair of Laois IFA, Henry Burns says it could potentially happen if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed.

Farmers are warning the cost of food will rise if the Strait of Hormuz isn't re-opened soon. 

Iran has effectively shut the vital route, causing fuel and fertiliser prices to surge in recent weeks.

About 30% of the world's fertiliser and 20% of the world's oil passes through the Strait.
