The investment will fund a major extension at the facility.
A major extension to a midlands hospital has been given the green light, thanks to a multi million euro investment.
14 million euro has been granted for the provision of a new Respiratory Assessment Unit and the extension of the existing Pediatric Unit at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise.
Planning permission was initially sought for the development in November of last year.
It's the largest investment received by the hospital.
