Westmeath County Council is warning its tenants about bogus text messages.
The local authority says a number of people have received a message about rent arrears.
It says if you receive a message similar to this please report it to your local Garda station.
The other advice from the council is not to click any links in the message.
People are also being reminded not to give out any personal information such as bank account details, PPS number etc
