Midlands MEP Barry Cowen says he's had a health scare but is now recovering in St James's Hospital.
Mr. Cowen says he felt unwell at the European Parliament in Strasbourg last week and went to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore on Saturday night.
He was then transferred to the cardiac unit at St James's Hospital on Sunday and underwent a surgical procedure on Monday.
He says he hopes to return home at the weekend and will continue to carry out his duties as an MEP.
