A Midlands MEP is welcoming a European Commission decision to block Brazil from exporting beef to the EU later this year.
Meat from the country is being banned due to the presence of antibiotics in livestock.
The authorities there have until September 3rd to show compliance, after 128 tonnes of beef treated with Oestradiol entered the Irish food system last year.

The news comes just two weeks after the trade parts of the Mercosur agreement took effect.
