A midlands TD has been criticising An Bord Pleanála, who are supposed to make a decision on a planning appeal within 18 weeks.
Families seeking planning permission in the midlands are waiting up to nine or ten months for a decision from An Bord Pleanála.
That's according to Laois Offaly TD Carol Nolan, who says it's clear there's major dysfunction within the planning body.
An Bord Pleanála are supposed to make decisions on appeals within 18 weeks of them being filed, but Deputy Nolan says this definitely isn't the case.
Last year, Cabinet approved plans to overhaul the country's planning laws, which would see a stricter timeline put in place.
But the Independent TD says that isn't enough:
