A former RTÉ correspondent believes Laois' Claire Byrne is the 'top person' to take over the Late Late show.
The Mountrath woman is favourited by the bookies to replace Ryan Tubridy in the Friday night hot-seat, when he steps down at the end of May.
Byrne was in close contention with Miriam O'Callaghan, according to Boyle Sports' ranking, but she has since ruled herself out as a candidate for the role.
