The principal of a Midlands fee-paying secondary school is calling for private schools to have access to the free books scheme.
The Irish Independent is reporting the cost of private education is up by €2,000 a year in some places amid the rising cost of energy, staffing, and food.
However fees in Cistercian College in Roscrea have remained relatively static over the last two years going from €8,600 in 2024, to €8,850 for next year.
Its principal Colm Maloney says their students' parents are tax-payers, and deserve the benefits that should come with that.
The highest priced day school is Glenstal Abbey in Limerick at €14,600 a month.
