He'll take over the role from Alan Dillon.
A midlands Senator has been appointed the Secretary of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party.
Longford Westmeath rep Micheál Carrigy was handed the role on Wednesday evening, and will succeed Alan Dillon.
Senator Carrigy is the party spokesperson on Arts, Culture, Media, Sports and Tourism, and has chaired the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism from March 2022 until it published its landmark report in June 2023.
He is currently the Chairperson of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Autism.
Senator Carrigy says:
"I'm looking forward to working with the Chairperson and the rest of the Parliamentary Party as we complete the Programme for Government and prepare for the forthcoming Local and European elections.
As a party we must continue to promote our party core values, listen to the electorate and continue to engage with and represent our communities."
