It comes from the Housing Departments' Energy Retrofit Programme.
The Midlands is set to receive €7.2m to accelerate the retrofitting of social homes in the county.
The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, is announcing €140 million in funding for local authorities under the Energy Efficiency Retrofit Programme to improve social housing across Ireland.
Laois will receive €2.8m, Offaly is in line for €2.6m, while €1.8m is going to Westmeath.
The funding aims to support the upgrade of around 3,500 homes nationwide, improving energy efficiency and living conditions.
The average retrofit grant per property will rise from €34,000 to €38,000 as part of the expanded programme.
The Department says the investment will help tackle the housing crisis while making homes safer, healthier and more environmentally sustainable.
