The Slieve Blooms' is one of the destinations selected as part of the Snapshot Europe project, to track wildlife across the continent.
Overall, 175 remote cameras have been deployed across multiple locations, with more than half a million images captured.
15-20 photos are being taken a day in a section of the mountain range in Laois, capturing mostly fallow deer.
Dr Adam Smith from the UCD Laboratory of Wildlife Ecology and Behaviour says the pictures are producing unexpected results:
