The Irish Businesses Against Litter report have released the latest results.
The midlands is moving closer to being litter-free based on the latest IBAL survey.
The Irish Businesses Against Litter report ranks Tullamore as the seventh most litter-free town in the country, in their list of 40 towns and cities across Ireland.
That result represents a three place jump in the rankings when compared to the last report 6 months ago.
Mullingar is the next best performing town in the region, finishing in eleventh also jumping three places since January.
Athlone has gone from 25th to 18th, while Portlaoise has slipped one spot down to 20th.
While Midlands towns performed well in the latest litter survey from IBAL, there are areas that have been flagged for lack of cleanliness.
The Food Fayre at Kilcruttin Business Park was found to be the most litter-free site in Tullamore.
Mullingar Town Park ranked well and the most littered site in the town is the canal pathway, due to alcohol related rubbish in the water.
In Athlone, The Strand is a grade A site, whereas a vacant property on Southern Station Road presents poorly.
In Portlaoise, the Main Street was regarded excellent and the most heavily littered site was the residential area of Carmody Way.
Irish Business Against Litter's Conor Horgan says generally our towns and cities are shaping up well:
