Midlands Workers Earn €1,000 Less Than National Average

The average disposable income is just under €20,000

People in the midlands earn over 1,000 euro less than the national average.

The region had an average disposable income of just over 19 thousand euro in 2017.

People in Wesmeath are the best paid in the midlands, according to the latest CSO figures.

The average disposable income in 2017 was over 19,600 euro.

That's followed closely, though, by Laois - where the figure was just shy of 19 and a half thousand.

Offaly is among the lowest paid counties, along with likes of Roscommon, Leitirm and Cavan.

The average there was 18 thousand euro.

Meanwhile, Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Wicklow and Limerick all also exceeded the national average of almost 21 thousand euro.
