Minister Of State Encourages Behavioural Changes On Midlands Farms

The call comes at the beginning of farm safety week.

The Minister of State for agriculture says behavioural change is the key to preventing farm deaths.

Farm Safety Week is being launched today, to remind people not to be complacent with machinery or livestock.

14 people have lost their lives on Irish farms so far this year - including three children under the age of 8.

Kildare-South TD and Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Martin Heydon, says safety needs to become a farmer's first thought, not an after thought:
