Work has started on nearly 1,900 midlands homes so far this year.
Work has started on more than double the number of midlands homes in the first five months of this year, when compared to last year.
Nearly 1,900 commencements notices have been issued in the region up to May, an increase of just under 1,100.
Nationally, work has begun on the building of over 30,000 new homes so far this year.
However an analysis by the Banking and Payments Federation says more construction workers are going to be needed to deliver all of the housing that's needed.
While Brian Hayes Chief Executive of the BPFI says almost half of the new homes being built are apartments.
