Westmeath County Council is planning to provide more social housing for people with additional needs.
The Green Party's Louise Heavin says that members of the local authority agreed to allocate 5% of social housing for those with physical, intellectual and mental health disabilities.
She says that one in 20 homes in private estates in the county will also have to be accessible housing:
