An urgent plan to catch up on missed healthcare before the winter is needed, according to Sinn Fein.
They've obtained figures which show over 2,000 people are currently waiting for a day procedure in a midlands hospitals.
Almost half of those, 995, are waiting for a procedure in Tullamore Regional Hospital, with 555 in Portlaoise, and 468 in Mullingar.
Across the state, the total number waiting for day procedures is at 80,283.’
The party is proposing a €914m package to get the health service up to standard - including hiring 600 consultants, 4,000 additional hospital staff, and adding 430 critical care beds by 2025.
