Gardaí are acting on recently acquired information in relation to a remote stretch of land.
Searches for clues to the murders of Jo Jo Dullard and Deirdre Jacob are entering a second week, at a quarry on the Kildare-Wicklow border.
The remote stretch of land just off the N81 remains sealed off this morning, and a no-fly-zone for drones remains in place.
The excavation began when new evidence emerged following the women's disappearance in the 1990s.
Stephen Breen from the Irish Sun says while gardai are searching for evidence of either woman, they are not suggesting the two murders are linked.
