Motorists bought nearly 260 million litres of fuel in the midlands last year.
According to the CSO, Westmeath pumps sold the most amount of diesel in the region in 2021, at just under 96 million litres, as well as nearly 17 million litres of petrol.
70 million litres of diesel was used to fill tanks in Laois, and 13 million in petrol.
Offaly accounted for the lowest amount in the region, at just under 51 million litres of diesel, and 10 million in petrol.
The amount of fuel sold in the midlands has seen a substantial increase from 2020, at a jump of more than 23 million litres.
