New Figures Show A 6% Increase In Homelessness In The Midlands

90 people are without permanent accommodation in the region.

90 people are homeless in the midlands.

There are 42 people without permanent accommodation in Westmeath and 30 in Offaly.

18 people are homeless in Laois.

This is a 6% increase on the number of people without permanent accommodation last month.

There's been a 3.5% increase in the number of people accessing emergency accommodation nationally.

Figures for March from the Department of Housing show there were 9,825, up from 9,492 in February.

The total includes more than 2,800 children.

The official total from the Government doesn't include rough sleepers, women in refuge centres, Direct Provision or Ukrainian refugees in pledged accommodation.
